About the event
Delve into the world of bookmaking in this engaging Mini Book Making Workshop. These books are the perfect companions for nature walks or vacations, ready to capture and preserve special memories. At the beginning of the workshop, instructor Cherie Peters will help you choose materials to personalize the front and back covers for two mini books. Then, she will guide you step-by-step through the folding and cutting instructions for assembling the accordion-like interior pages of your books. The folded pages create pockets to store small treasures, tags and mementos. All materials will be provided, but you are always encouraged to bring small mementos to include in your books.
By the end of the session, you will leave with two completed mini books. The fee for this workshop is $45, but thanks to the City of Hollister Parks and Recreation Department, Hollister residents only pay $22.50.
About the Instructor: Cherie Peters, a seasoned artist and former K-12 Art Educator, has transitioned from the classroom to the tranquil landscapes of the Lake of the Ozarks and beyond. In retirement, she teaches Expressive Arts virtually from her motorhome and shares her love for nature through art classes in the Midwest to the Adirondack mountains of New York. Inspired by the enchanting allure of the Gulf Coast, Cherie gathers treasures like oyster shells and driftwood to create mixed-media artworks infused with the essence of coastal beauty. Currently volunteering at the Dewey Short Visitor Center at Table Rock Lake, she continues to draw inspiration from nature's bounty. Cherie invites viewers to join her on a journey of exploration and imagination through her art.
